Preschool Birthday Parties – Dread Them No More!

When children start preschool, they discover the world of birthday parties. It starts out with one child inviting the entire class to their birthday party. After that, the invitations never stop. There is no need to worry. When it comes around to your child’s party there are lots of ways to have an awesome party at a low cost and not much time on your part.
When you are ready to start planning the party, ask your child what kind of party they want. If your child attended parties that they liked they may want theirs to be the same. Although, they may want theirs completely different. Once you know what they want, you can start your planning. If you give your child the option of picking what they want, they will usually pick something simple. Normally they just pick out the theme or colors they want.
The next thing that you need to decide is where you are going to have the party. Since younger children can create quite a mess, you should think about having it at a fast food restaurant. This way the kids can have some fun and you don’t have to clean up the mess. If the weather is nice you might consider having it at a park or beach.
An appropriate time frame for a preschool party is around a couple of hours. In the afternoon or evening on a Saturday is a perfect time. Most preschoolers aren’t interested in doing the same thing for very long. If you make the party too long they will most likely start crying and whining. Having a short party will make it more fun for everyone.
If your child wants to invite more than 3 or 4 friends, you should ask some of the other parents if they would mind staying to help. Preschoolers are high maintenance so you should plan on having an adult for every three or four children. This will come in handy if any of the children need help in the bathroom.

Remember that if your child takes their invitations to school to pass out, that they should have one for each student. Besides being rude, most schools won’t let invitations be passed out unless everyone in the class is getting one.
Be sure to plan extra activities for the day of the party in case you need them. There’s nothing crazier than a bunch of preschoolers with nothing to do. If you keep them busy and occupied the whole time it will keep them out of trouble.
After everyone arrives, you should remind the children that good manners are expected. They should be courteous to everyone and use the words please and thank you. Before the party you should have a talk with your child about what is appropriate to say about the gifts they are given.
